About the event

Five Week Trauma Informed Yoga series

@ The Fourth Floor Fridays

9th, 16th, 23rd feb 1st, 8th march

Unwind and tune within, knowing that this space is held for you with Safety and Compassion 🧡

This is a safe space, held with the intention to allow for deep compassionate rest.

Great sessions for those seeking to wind-down, or who have been experiencing fatigue, PTSD, insomnia, anxiety, depression, or anyone experiencing various forms of mental, physical and/or emotional distress, all on our human spectrum is welcome, there is no level of too little or too much stress in order to come.

Attending these sessions will offer you ways to practice calming the nervous system, restore vital energy, replenish adrenal stores (our life-batteries) and relieve inflammation in the body.  This space is a place we can gently cultivate a kind and caring relationship with ourselves, see our true Self, and enable us to have feelings of safety and at home-ness inside our body and mind even outside of the practice.

Themes of this series:

Acknowledging the impacts of trauma and understanding triggers. Safety is key in this practice, therefore in these sessions guidance is offered to help facilitate experiences of security and safety. Through offering validation, understanding and fostering practices that calm the nervous system we can heal and grow from trapped-trauma(s).

Approaching ourselves with kindness, patience and sensitivity. "Go gently" as we recognise the vulnerability and courage it takes to be witness to past hurts that keep us trapped in trauma responses. "Go gently" as we respect, validate and heal wounds from the great and diverse challenges we face.

Via sensory exploration we can return back to this present moment. Grounding in a sense means to bring awareness to our physical experience. Sometimes there can be waves of sensation, emotions or thoughts that arise as we return back to our physical awareness, in this process we are able to release stored trauma and return back to the security of our body, right here in this moment. Via grounding techniques we learn how to self-regulate and reduce stressors in our body, mind, and emotions.

Cultivating compassion and understanding for ourselves even and especially through adversity. Practicing self care is one great form of Love, we can access this by fostering a sense of worthiness, acknowledging and validating the experiences we've had and honouring our unique process. Love ourselves back into wholeness with compassion and curiosity to understand ourselves all the more.

Our ability to choose and makes choices that are best for our own well be-ing, is one of the greatest feelings in accessing a sense of empowerment and self-autonomy. We can actively participate in our own healing process. Often in the experience of trauma our sense of control is lost, via recognising and making choices that prove we do now have autonomy, choice and control, the disempowered experience that may be trapped in our body and mind can be released and instead experiences and recognition of our ability to over-come challenges is in it's place. We can recognise our resilience and celebrate our ability for self agency as we return to states of empowerment in our journey toward recovery from trauma(s).
